St Cadocís Llancarfan

Inspirational wall paintings

The church of St. Cadoc, Llancarfan, is the focus of a hidden & charming village, minutes from the Severn, 7 miles from fruitful Cowbridge. St. Cadoc’s pastoral call echoes well beyond regular worshippers. The church inherits a 9th century monastic tradition, when Llancarfan flourished with learning. Iolo Morgannwg was born up the hill too, his explorations rewarding both historians & mythologists! Iolo didn’t know though of our remarkable wall paintings, hidden since the Reformation, finally being re-discovered and conserved. Llancarfan's valeways interweave church & pub, ancient relics, healing springs and rural delights. From celebration to bell-ringing to getting married to genealogical quest, St. Cadoc's welcomes all.
