The Vale boasts one of the longest unbroken Christian presence . Few places in the UK have had such a profound effect on the devlopment of Christianity in the 5th century largely through the monasteries at Llanilltud Fawr, Llancarfan and Llandough.  From these places of learning Saints travelled throughout Europe spreading the Christian message.
